I first traveled to Kenya in July 2007. Instantly I was enamored by the love, joy, and beauty of the people there. After two weeks of dancing, laughing, and crying with the people there I was never the same. My heart was forever tied to this enchanting nation and its people.
Six months later I was in tears reading the news headlines. Riots were sweeping through the nation as a result election results. My family in Kenya was suffering. The children I held and mamas I danced with were in danger and since December 2007, the nation has not been the same.
On The World Race I returned to Kenya in January. More than two years after the tragedy, the people were still suffering. Families were still broken. Hundreds of thousands of people were still homeless. However, the people of Kenya are hopeful.
Please watch this video as The World Race focuses on healing yet another war-torn African nation. The Kenya Initiative seeks to bring peace, life, and hope to people who were torn from all familiarity.
